Fatal Accident in Sumter County Claims Lake Panasoffkee Man

WILDWOOD – A Lake Panasoffkee man passed away Thursday after sustaining injuries in an accident in Wildwood Thursday morning.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, 72-year-old Arthur Ross Brannam was travelling westbound in the inside lane of State Road 44 in Wildwood when his 2003 Chevy pickup truck veered off the road onto the grassy shoulder striking a utility pole and then a fence.

Brannam was transported to the Leesburg Regional Medical center where he was later pronounced dead as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision.

Troopers are not sure what caused Brannam to leave the road. No other person or vehicle was involved in the incident.
