Tropical Storm Watch Upgraded to Tropical Storm Warning for Lake and Sumter

LAKE and SUMTER COUNTY – The U.S. National Weather Service has upgraded the Tropical Storm Watch to a Tropical Storm Warning and included Sumter County.

Affected areas include Wildwood, Lake Panasoffkee, Bushnell, The Villages, Leesburg, Lady Lake, Mount Dora and surrounding areas.

Winds are expected to reach 25-35 mph with gusts of up to 45 mph.

There is a moderate expectation of property damage due to high winds, flooding, and possible tornadoes.

Officials are recommending residents be prepared and stocked up on supplies and stay indoors and avoid the wind.
