THE VILLAGES – Deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s department are calling for your help in identifying and capturing an unidentified male suspect who was caught shoplifting from Beall’s in The Villages on Wedgewood Lane.
Surveillance video footage shows the unidentified man placing items in a backpack and then walking past all registers and point of sale systems and leaving the store on Thursday.
A Loss Prevention Officer with Beall’s attempted to detain the suspect by grabbing him by the hand but was unsuccessful. When the employee made contact with him, the man dropped the backpack with the stolen items and fled the store in a red Yamaha golf cart.
Sumter County Detectives are seeking any information and assistance to help apprehend the suspect.
