Troopers stated that all northbound lanes and southbound lanes of the area were shut down while firefighters with the Marion County Fire Rescue fought to extinguish the flames that erupted from the truck around 2:50 pm on Friday.

According to the report, 42-year-old trucker, Dimitris Adams was traveling northbound near mile marker 364 when several warning alarms began alerting him to an issue with his rig.

Adams pulled his tractor-trailer to the shoulder of the interstate and got out to investigate. Adams observed smoke coming from under the hood and then the truck “became engulfed in flames”.

Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire and reopened the lanes at approximately 3:30 pm.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
