Schools on Lockdown as Police Search for shooting Suspect

LEESBURG — Schools throughout Leesburg was placed on lockdown early Friday morning as police search the area for a suspect involved in an early morning shooting.

Leesburg High School and Carver Middle School were placed on a full lockdown while Rimes, Leesburg Elementary, and Fruitland Park Elementary schools were placed on a “modified lockdown” with limited movement.

Parents of students who rode the bus and had not arrived at Carver Middle School were told to meet with the students at the local bus lot to pick up their kids.

Parents picking their kids up from the bus lot are required to show identification in order to take their child home.
