OCALA –  A pedestrian was killed earlier this afternoon (Tuesday) when he attempted to cross a busy intersection on State Road 200 on his motorized scooter.

According to Ocala Police, the 95-year-old man, Ricard W. Field, was attempting to cross Stare Road 200 at the crosswalk of Southwest 44th Court when he was struck by a 2007 Chevy Silverado headed westbound on State Road 200.

The driver of the Silverado, 26-year-old Edward McDaniel of Belleview had a green light and did not have enough time to stop when he saw Field. Ocala Fire Rescue pronounced Field dead on the scene.
