Pedestrian Killed in Leesburg After Being Struck by Villages Resident

LEESBURG, Fla. – A pedestrian was killed Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle driven by a Villages resident according to the Leesburg Police Department.

According to a statement released by the department, 35-year-old Thomas Thole was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 441 near North Lake Avenue in his 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross U.S. Highway 441.

Officers arrived at the scene of the accident at approximately 8:30 p.m. according to the statement.

The pedestrian, who was identified as 39-year-old Jeffery Hosea, was transported to the Leesburg Regional Medical Center where he later died due to injuries sustained from the collision.

Officers are still investigating the incident and are asking anyone with any information to contact the Leesburg Police Department’s Traffic Unit at (352)787-2121.
