OCALA, Fla. – An Ocala man was pronounced dead late Monday night after crashing his 2008 Harley Sportster according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Troopers stated that 53-year-old Mark Hanson was traveling westbound on his motorcycle just before midnight on Monday twenty miles east of Ocala on State Road 40 when for an unknown reason, the rear brakes locked up causing Hanson’s bike to lay on its side.
During the incident, Hanson was ejected off of the motorcycle at which time he rolled for approximately 180 feet. The motorcycle, sliding on its left side, came to rest over 360 feet away from the initial point of the incident.
Hanson was pronounced dead when responders arrived.
Troopers are unsure of what may have caused his brakes to lock up.
