Mount Dora Seafood Festival Expecting 15,000 This Weekend

Mount Dora Seafood Festival 2016

MOUNT DORA – Last year’s first-ever Mount Dora Seafood Festival brought in approximately 5,000 people to sample fishy fare from food trucks, local restaurants, and over 50 vendors. This year’s event, happening Saturday and Sunday at Evans Park, Mount Dora, is expected to bring in triple that number, according to organizers. The festival has been expanded to include twice as many vendors, (over 100), a much larger footprint that includes the area around the Lakeside Inn, two free bounce houses for kids, and a walking tour of local restaurants.

Event coordinator Janet Gamache says, “Its well known that Mount Dora knows how to do events ‘Right’, and so it is a natural evolution for us to respond in a way to make the visitor experience better than before.”

The festival will kick off with a “Pirate Wine Walk” tonight at Norm’s Palette, where a $15 ticket will take you to a number of local shops to taste a variety of wines.  Wear a Pirate costume and you will get an extra raffle ticket for prizes awarded at the end of the walk.  There will also be a “Landlubber Restaurant  Tour” on Saturday.  The tour is self-guided and costs $38, and allows you to taste delicacies from participating restaurants at your own pace between the hours of 11am and 5pm. Shuttle service is available from Mount Dora Christian Academy on Saturday only and from Mount Dora High School both Saturday and Sunday.

Free live music will be provided at the main stage in Evans Park on both days, headlined by The Original Wailers featuring Al Anderson, who played with Bob Marley in his original band. Also appearing will be the Shindigs, a Beach Boys tribute band. While attendance is free, you may reserve seating for a fee in a reserved section by calling (407)603-9215. Admission to the Festival is free to the public and runs Saturday, August 27, 11am-9pm, and Sunday 11am-5pm. For more information and preferred concert seating and tour tickets, log onto
