Man found behind burning vehicle in Lady Lake, identified

LADY LAKE , Fla. – A man found dead behind a burning vehicle has been identified as 29-year-old Joel Aaron Curry of Leesburg.

Michelle Keszey, a spokeswoman for the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, wouldn’t reveal details in a phone interview on why, but said it was determined upon deputies’ arrival that Curry “was the victim of homicidal violence.”

According to a sheriff’s press release, the Villages Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle fire about 6:12 p.m. Sunday in the 8700 block of North East 102nd Road in Lady Lake.

Curry was discovered behind the vehicle, some feet away.
