Inverness Man Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle

INVERNESS — An Inverness man was pronounced dead after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.

Troopers reported that 26-year-old Christopher Jones was walking westbound on East Turner Camp Road in westbound lane just west of Bloomfield Drive at approximately 6:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 1993 Dodge Ram Van.

According to the report, Jones was wearing dark clothing and the driver of the van was not able to see him in time to stop or attempt to avoid him.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

No charges are being filed at this time.
