Fatal Crash in Citrus County Claims Life of Inverness Man

INVERNESS – An Inverness man was killed in a fatal crash Thursday morning on East Gulf to Lake Highway just west of South Maple Nut Way.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Load extra Wright, a 30-year-old Ocala woman was driving eastbound in her 2015 International truck when she noticed another crash and stopped to help. Wright pulled her truck to the shoulder of the highway and came to a stop partially in the roadway.

A 2007 Buick was also traveling eastbound on East Gulf to Lake Highway when it struck the rear of Wrights parked truck. The driver, 74-year-old Oscar S. Jarrell, was transported to Citrus Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead due to injuries he sustained during the crash.
