EUSTIS, Fla. — A Eustis man was pronounced dead after what officials believe was a hit-run-accident sometime overnight between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol reported to the area near County Road 44 and Sparrow Lane in Eustis after a passerby spotted a body and contact police at approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
According to a report released by troopers, it is believed the victim was walking his bicycle traveling westbound on County Road 44 just west of Sparrow Lane when for an unknown reason, he was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling in the same direction.
The suspected vehicle the fled the area without stopping to render any aid the victim, leaving him on the side of the road.
The victim, who has only been identified as a 38-year-old male from Eustis was later pronounced deceased by the medical examiner.
