Hickory Point Beach to Host Collegiate Beach Volleyball Event

Hickory Point Beach, Tavares – Florida’s largest single-site beach volleyball complex, Hickory Point, will be hosting the Stetson Beach Invitational March 17th and 18th. Historically held at Stetson University, this is the first year Hickory Point Beach will be hosting the invitational.

The event will feature seven NCAA Division I and II beach volleyball teams from across the US. Competing teams hail from Stetson University, Georgia State University, Jacksonville State University, the University of New Mexico, Florida Atlantic University, Morehead State University, and Lincoln Memorial University.

Hickory Point offers five to six courts for dual play, allowing for more competition, a statement from Stetson Volleyball Head Coach Kristina Hernandez said. The university hopes to continue partnering with Florida Region and Hickory Point Beach for future events.

The Beach Invitational is a free event open to the public. Play begins at 9 a.m on both days, with final sets taking place at 4 p.m. There is a game scheduled every hour. Hickory Point’s state-of-the-art facility offers amenities for visitors such as permanent restrooms, free parking, a playground for kids, outdoor showers near the courts, a nature trail, BBQ and picnic areas, a swimming area, and much more.
