A 28-year-old Fruitland Park woman was pronounced dead Friday afternoon after a vehicle she was driving struck a concrete pole in Ormond Beach according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.
According to the report, a 9-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Three other passengers, a 27-year-old man, a 5-year-old female, and a 3-year-old boy suffered minor injuries.
Troopers stated the driver was traveling eastbound on State Road 40 near Shadow Crossing Boulevard at the time of the incident.
With wet roads, the driver negotiated a curve in the road and lost control of the vehicle and traveled onto the south shoulder of the road and struck a concrete utility pole.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
