HILLSBOROUGH, Fla – A bicyclist was struck by a motor vehicle at the I-4 exit to US 301 in the early morning hours of October 18.
The bicyclist was identified as a 45-year-old male whose name has not been released to the public, pending next of kin notification.The impact ejected the cyclist from his bike and propelled the bike across the highway, coming to rest along the shoulder of the road. The victim was reportedly not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol has identified the vehicle involved as a silver Mercedes C300 from parts and debris left at the scene. The hit-and-run was reported at 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18 and occurred near the eastbound I-4 exit ramp to US 301.
The exit ramp was subsequently closed during the investigation causing traffic to be redirected.
The ramp was reopened as of 9:22 a.m. after troopers and other officials successfully cleared the scene.

UPDATE: The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Christopher Jeremiah Cole, 44, of Tampa. Charges for Cole are pending, and police are still attempting to notify the next of kin of the victim.
UPDATE: Police have identified the victim as 45 year old Aristeo Antonio Pascual of Brandon, Florida.
