DUNNELLON — A Seventh grader at Dunnellon Middle School was arrested late last week after allegedly making threats against the school on social media.

Reports say that the student wrote that he “felt like shooting up the school” on his Instagram.

Another student saw the post and notified a teacher of the student’s post and also claimed that the seventh grader often posts about his interest in guns.

The school deemed this to be the perfect example of “see something say something” and urges parents and students to take note and not be afraid to speak up.

A deputy went to the student’s home and during an interview the student first denied the post. He then admitted to the post but did not offer any reason for wanting to shoot at the school.

The student was arrested as a potential threat to the school on October 7.
