One Dead, One Critical in Citrus Motorcycle Crash

CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. —  A Homosassa man is in critical condition and a Crystal River woman was pronounced dead after a motorcycle accident in Crystal River just after midnight on Tuesday according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.

Troopers reported that the 30-year-old man whose name is being withheld pending next of kin notification was traveling westbound on Fort Island Trail with 22-year-old passenger Victoria Morgan.

According to the report, the 2012 Yamaha R6 motorcycle came to a sharp curve and the driver “failed to negotiate the curve” causing the bike to leave the roadway and collide with a tree.

Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The driver suffered critical injuries and was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital.

The report indicates that the driver and passenger were not wearing helmets at the time of the incident.

Charges are pending.
