Crash on Suncoast Blvd Claims Life of Homosassa Man

HOMOSASSA – A Homosassa man was pronounced dead after a fatal crash Monday morning at the intersection of Suncoast Boulevard and West Green Acres Street, according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.

88-year-old Richard Turner was traveling northbound on Suncoast Boulevard when for unknown reasons, he lost control of his 2013 Honda Civic just after 10:00 am Monday morning.

The vehicle crossed over the median and all southbound lanes before traveling through two ditches and two driveways and striking a palm tree, the report stated.


Turner was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.

According to the report, Turner was wearing his seatbelt and no alcohol was involved. It is unclear at this time what caused him to lose control of his vehicle.

The accident is still under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
