Bomb Threat Prompts Closure of The Villages Charters Schools

Deputies with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous bomb threat against The Villages Middle School late Sunday night at approximately 10:13 p.m. according to a release issued by the department.

After receiving the threat, deputies and investigators searched all schools located in The Villages.

All schools were cleared and secured during the search. No evidence of a bomb had been found at any of the schools.

According to the release, The Villages Charter Schools remained closed throughout Monday as an abundance of caution.

Schools in The Villages are expected to reopen on Tuesday, March 9.

Investigators are still currently investigating the threat and are asking anyone with information to contact the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
