Anthony Man Dead After Collision

ANTHONY – An man was pronounced dead after a collision in Anthony according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the accident report, 50-year-old Arthur Smith was traveling east on County Road 329 near the intersection of NE 25th Avenue when for some unknown reason, his 2000 Dodge Ram drifted across the westbound lanes and onto the north shoulder and crashed into a large tree.

Marion County Fire Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced Smith deceased at 4:58 p.m., the report stated.

The report indicated that Smith was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The incident is still under investigation as troopers try to learn what caused Smith to drift off of the road.
