Altoona Teen Dead After ATV Crash

A sixteen-year-old girl was pronounced dead after an ATV accident on Wednesday afternoon according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the report, the incident occurred just after 3 p.m. near the intersection of Ravenswood Road and Treadwell Avenue just north of Altoona.

Troopers reported that the teen traveling northbound on Treadwell Avenue when she traveled onto Ravenswood Road directly into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

Without time to stop, the driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old man from Leesburg, the driver struck the ATV.

Investigators stated that the driver of the ATV was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

According to the report, the driver of the ATV was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

The crash is still under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
